Just like there are the different physical senses (i.e. taste, touch, smell), there are different psychic senses. Usually people connect more with a particular type of psychic sense and it is easier for them to receive messages via that modality. For example, some people are naturally “visual” and will tend to develop their clairvoyant or psychic seeing abilities more quickly. That is they will see auras and energy colors of pain or healing. They may even see their guides or loved ones clairvoyantly. Others are more naturally attuned to sound and may develop their clairaudient abilities more quickly, receiving messages from their guides or “hearing” their guides talk to them.

We all have each of these senses, we just develop them or use them differently. Some people are simply not as sensitive as others, so don’t feel inadequate or that you are not as strong as others if you are not seeing, hearing, or feeling the presence of your guides or loved ones. They are there.

The names of the paranormal senses are derived from the French word “clair” meaning “clear” and the translation of the specific sense. For example, the word “voyant” means “seeing” so the term clairvoyant translates as “clear seeing.”

Clairvoyance (Seeing)

The clairvoyant sense is the psychic visual sense. Clairvoyance is associated with the Third Eye (6th chakra). Additional chakras related to clairvoyance are the Heart Chakra (4th Chakra) and the Sacral Chakra (2nd chakra). People who are more clairvoyant may see visions of spirits, auras around people, and other paranormal visual experiences.

Clairaudience (Hearing)

The clairaudient sense is hearing psychically. It is associated with the Throat Chakra (5th chakra). Additional chakras related to clairaudience are the Third Eye (6th Chakra) and the Base Chakra (1st chakra). People who are more clairaudient receive messages from spirits. They “hear” or receive thoughts connected with the paranormal.

Clairsentience (Feeling)

The clairsentient sense is feeling psychically. It is associated with the Solar Plexus (3rd chakra). Additional chakras related to clairsentience are the Heart Chakra (4th Chakra) and the Sacral Chakra (2nd chakra). People who are more clairsentient feel things psychically. They often can sense the emotions of others and they receive “gut feelings” or messages.

Clairalience (Smelling)

The clairalient sense is the paranormal sense of smell. It is associated with the Third Eye (6th chakra). People who are more clairalient may smell the perfume of a loved one, grandma’s cookies, or the cigar smoke of a passed-over uncle.

Claircognizance (Knowing)

The claircognizant sense is precognition or a “knowing” psychically. It is associated with the solar plexus chakra (3rd chakra). Also related to claircognizance is the Heart Chakra (4th Chakra). People who are more claircognizant often they report to “just know” things. They may have a sense that something is about to happen.

Clairgustance (Tasting)

The clairgustant sense is the paranormal sense of taste. It is associated with the Throat Chakra (5th chakra). Also related to clairgustance is the Third Eye (6th Chakra). People who are more clairgustant may suddenly taste the cooking of a person in spirit or their favorite dessert. They may get a bitter or sweet taste as a psychic sign.
